Are sole proprietorships registered in the Business Register?

In principle, registration of a sole proprietorship is done on a voluntary basis. However, if a sole proprietorship generates revenues of more than EUR 700,000 in two consecutive years each, or more than EUR 1,000,000 in any year, registration in the Austrian Business Register will become mandatory.

In the case of voluntary registration the entity is not required to prepare balance sheets.
