What is a GmbH?

GmbH is the abbreviation for Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung. This type of legal form is the most common among all business entities that are registered in the Austrian Business Register.

A GmbH is a company. The share capital is divided into shares representing capital contributions. Capital contributions means the capital subscribed for by the shareholder(s) to form the share capital.

Usually, a GmbH's liability is limited to the capital subscribed for and the shareholder's assets. The shareholders' private assets remain untouched.
